Meet: Katy Eccles

The artist behind Imprint Casts, based in
Edinburgh, Scotland.

Her practice was inspired by her mother Sue, who passed on her knowledge of this unique casting technique to Katy who has embraced the medium and developed her own signature style.

Katy’s work focuses on capturing the ephemeral, transient beauty of nature; giving permanent form to a fleeting moment in the natural world .

Paying homage to the natural world

Every piece starts with hand-picking flowers and foliage from her mother's garden and the surrounding woodland in Fife to create her compositions.

These delicate botanicals are then meticulously pressed into clay, and gently removed petal by petal and seed by seed. The impression of each flowers and leaf captured in the clay is then immortalised in plaster of paris.

Katy has created an exclusive collection of pieces for Makerville featuring hand painted backgrounds and frames.

These are each completely one-of-a-kind, a beautiful piece to treasure forever.
